About Spalist
An honest, independent directory for UAE wellness
We started Spalist because we couldn't find a single, trustworthy place to discover spas, aesthetic clinics and wellness centers in the UAE without sponsored fluff, fake reviews or hidden booking fees. We built the directory we wished existed — editor-verified listings, real Google reviews, direct contact with venues, zero commission.
- 246Verified spas
- 69,362Real Google reviews
- 77UAE neighbourhoods
- 30Treatment categories
Why we exist
UAE wellness discovery is a mess. Whether you're looking for a Moroccan hammam, a hydrafacial, a botox top-up or a yoga class — generic aggregators rank by who paid most, hotel chains drown out independents, booking platforms add 15–30% commission that the venue quietly passes back to you, and review pages are loaded with fakes (Google itself estimates 8–12% of spa and clinic reviews in the UAE are inauthentic).
Spalist is the inversion of that model. We cover three verticals under one roof: spas & hammams, aesthetic & skin clinics, and wellness centers(yoga, pilates, meditation, nutrition). We don't take commission on bookings. We don't accept payment to rank a venue higher. Every listing is editor-verified against the venue's own Google Business profile, trade licence (and DHA/DOH/MOH approval for medical providers), and on-site notes — and we re-verify every 90 days.
The result: a directory where the spa at the top is there because it's genuinely the best for that query, not because it paid the most. We currently track 246 verified venues across 2 emirates and 77 UAE neighbourhoods, with 69,362 real Google reviews averaging 4.67★. Every page is written from first-hand visits — no AI templates, no scraped boilerplate.
Our principles
Editorial independence
We don't take commission on bookings. Spas pay a flat featured-listing fee to be highlighted — never to rank organically. Editor's picks are chosen on merit by named editors with documented experience.
Verified everything
Every spa passes a 5-step verification before going live: trade licence, hygiene practices, contact accuracy, WhatsApp responsiveness, and visitor-review consistency. Re-verified every 90 days; never just imported and forgotten.
Real Google reviews
We import reviews directly from each spa's Google Business profile with attribution. We don't fake reviews, we don't suppress negative reviews, and we don't allow venues to remove reviews they dislike.
No middleman fees
Customers contact spas directly via WhatsApp or phone. Spalist never inserts itself in the booking, never collects payment, never adds fees. The price you see is the price you pay.
Editorial transparency
Every guide, every editor's pick, every comparison is signed by a named editor with a public bio. You can see who wrote what, when it was updated, and what their experience qualifications are.
Honest about gaps
When an emirate or treatment category has thin coverage, we say so. We'd rather show 1 verified spa than 50 unverified ones. New emirates and areas roll out only after our editorial team completes their visits.
How we verify every spa
Every spa on Spalist passes our 5-step verification process before going live, then is re-verified every 90 days. Here's exactly what we check, in order:
- 1
Trade licence verification
We cross-check the spa's trade licence with the relevant UAE emirate authority (DED for Dubai, DED-AD for Abu Dhabi, etc.) to confirm the business is registered, active, and operating from the listed address.
- 2
Health & medical approvals
Spas offering medical-aesthetic treatments must hold the appropriate DHA, DOH or MOH approvals. Home-service providers must show proof of mobile licence. We verify these before publishing.
- 3
Contact channel test
We message the listed WhatsApp number and call the listed phone number. If either is unanswered or wrong, the listing doesn't go live. Re-tested every 90 days.
- 4
On-site verification visit
An editor visits the venue in person (or, for home-service providers, books a session). We confirm hours, parking, hygiene practices, therapist quality, and the accuracy of the published service menu.
- 5
Cross-referenced review audit
We compare visitor reviews across Google, TripAdvisor and submission feedback for consistency. If positive reviews look suspicious or negative reviews are systematically suppressed, we flag the venue and may pause the listing.
What we don’t do
We've seen what corrodes trust in spa directories. Here's what Spalist explicitly refuses to do, regardless of revenue pressure:
- We don't accept payment to rank a spa higher in organic results. Featured spots are visually distinct and labelled.
- We don't write AI templates filling 50,000 fake spa pages. Every page is built from real, sourced data.
- We don't take commission on bookings. Spas keep 100% of what customers pay them.
- We don't allow venues to suppress or remove negative reviews from their profile.
- We don't list venues without a verified trade licence, even if they ask.
- We don't share visitor contact information with spas without explicit consent.
- We don't run sponsored content disguised as editorial.
- We don't auto-import spas from data scrapes without editorial verification.
How we make money
Total transparency. Spalist has exactly two revenue streams, and we'll always tell you which is which:
Featured listings
Spas pay a flat AED 500/month to appear with a “Featured” badge and prominent placement in their city / area / category pages. Featured spots are visually distinct, never affect organic ranking, and are clearly labelled.
Lead reports (Pro)
Featured spas optionally receive a monthly report breaking down their WhatsApp clicks, call taps, direction taps, and source pages. Costs nothing extra — it's included in the featured fee. Pro tier (coming) adds CRM export.
Who’s behind it
Spalist is built and operated from Dubai by a small independent team of 5 named editors, each with documented experience in UAE wellness, hospitality or journalism. We're not part of a booking platform, a hotel chain or a spa group. We're funded entirely by the featured-listing fees paying spas choose to pay — and by reader trust we work hard not to lose.
Every guide, comparison and editor's pick on Spalist is signed by a named editor with a public bio. You can see who wrote what and what their qualifications are on our team page.
Update cadence
Every 90 days — spa-level re-verification
Every listing is independently re-verified: trade licence still active, WhatsApp still answered, hours still accurate, hygiene still up to standard.
Every 30 days — review sync
Google reviews are re-pulled monthly so the rating and review count you see reflects the latest customer feedback, not a stale snapshot.
Continuously — guide refreshes
City, area, and category guides are refreshed as the market shifts. Editor's picks are rotated when a new entrant earns the spot.
